Bio

With a career spanning over three decades, Sam McKnight has always been at the forefront of session hair styling. In 1978, Sam did his first Vogue shoot - now he has over 80 Vogue covers under his belt and has been featured in every international edition. His special relationship with British Vogue continues to be mutually inspiring and a creative collaboration.

Working closely with photographers such as Bruce Weber, Steven Meisel, Irving Penn, Patrick Demarchelier and Richard Avedon throughout the 80’s, Sam McKnight created groundbreaking images, setting the foundation for a new flair of hairstyling and gaining him global recognition. He’s continued to work with the industry’s new wave of photographers, including Nick Knight Craig McDean, Solve Sundsbo, Mert & Marcus, Inez and Vinoodh, Tim Walker, Mario Testino & Karl Lagerfeld.

Sam is sought after by Hollywood’s most glamorous women and top models including Cate Blanchett, Uma Thurman, Tilda Swinton, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Lara Stone, Nicole Kidman, Emma Watson, Lady Gaga, Sienna Miller, Sarah Jessica Parker, Miley Cyrus, Naomi Watts, Gisele Bundchen and Penelope Cruz. He was also responsible for The Late Diana Princess of Wales’ iconic styles.

Sam consistently works with the designers of the moment, in shows for Chanel,
Balmain, DSquared2, Fendi, Moschino, Mulberry, Vivienne Westwood among others, completing print and TV ad campaigns for luxury brands such as Chanel, Roberto Cavalli, Chloe, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana and Shiseido.
